It was interesting hearing your thoughts on this movie. I do wonder about the mishmashing of different Asian cultures there. The plot sounds like a bit of Avatar: The Last Airbender mixed with the anime Dr. Stone. Is it just me or does this sound like Raya was anime-inspired in some way? Maybe Disney is low-key trying to admit some kind of Japanese influence which they didn’t dare do with two other movie franchises I could mention. Good on them for trying to have positive ethnic and female characterization even if it doesn’t sound perfect. I’m not sure if Raya would be my thing, but it was fascinating hearing your thoughts as well as Imo’s.
